This past weekend, the #1 pound for pound boxer in the world, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez brought his show to the DAZN streaming platform versus Rocky Fielding. The fight was no more than a tune up fight for Canelo but it also served another purpose, to expand DAZN’s subscription base in the USA market.
DAZN currently has 7+ Million subscribers worldwide due to their international Soccer events and Boxing. They recently signed Canelo to a $365 Million guaranteed deal with incentives that could put him over $1 Billion.
One of the major incentives is for the amount of new subscribers the network gets during the weeks leading up to his fights. The plan worked out wonderfully for both Canelo and DAZN, according to the Apple app store and Google Play Store numbers released this morning.
